Pesticides have been in use by humans for thousands of years. The idea behind them is to kill anything considered to be a “pest”, including rodents, insects, mold, or weeds. Over the years, a lot of different methods have been developed in the pesticide industry, and many of them are deadly not just to pests, but even to humans. While the more dangerous methods and chemicals are strictly regulated, even now, pesticides can be dangerous health hazards.

Despite that, you may find that you need to use pesticides around your property. If that happens, be sure to consult the manufacturer’s instructions on how to use their product safely. Usually, this means wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment. It may also mean applying them when it is not a windy day. When not in use, it’s a good idea to store them in a clearly labeled container – typically, the one they came in – in a locked or otherwise secure location.
